Competitive Dance Program

Training With Purpose and Performance in Mind

The Competitive Program at Forever Dance is for dancers who are ready to commit to focused training, teamwork, and performance opportunities throughout the season. Dancers in the competitive program take part in structured rehearsals, follow clear expectations, and gain valuable stage experience throughout the season.

Our competitive dancers train with certified instructors who emphasize safe technique, clear instruction, and steady development. The focus is on helping dancers grow both technically and artistically while learning the responsibility and discipline that come with competitive performance.

What to Expect from the Competitive Program

The competitive dance team participates in a series of competitions throughout the season, giving dancers the opportunity to perform, receive feedback, and continue building confidence on stage.

There are six competitions available during the season, with three competitions required for competitive dancers. This structure helps families plan ahead while keeping expectations clear and manageable. Additional competitions may be available depending on the dancer’s age, program level, and instructor guidance.

Training and Instruction

Competitive dancers train under the guidance of certified dance instructors who focus on proper technique, consistency, and performance readiness. Classes include focused rehearsals, choreography development, and conditioning appropriate to the demands of competitive dance.

Instruction emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and steady progress, helping dancers develop confidence and professionalism both on and off the stage.

Skill Development Beyond Performance

While performance is a key part of the competitive program, dancers also develop skills that extend beyond the stage. Through regular training and teamwork, dancers learn responsibility, time management, and how to work toward shared goals.

These skills support personal growth and help dancers build confidence, focus, and resilience that carry into other areas of life.

Competition Options by Program

Forever Dance offers flexibility across its programs, allowing dancers to participate in performance opportunities that align with their experience and skills.

  • Competitive dancers attend required competitions and train regularly with the competitive team.

  • Junior boys and beginner or introductory classes may choose to attend one or two competitions as an introduction to competitive performance.

  • Recreational program classes may choose whether or not to compete.

  • Recreational adult classes are not competitive, but dancers may choose to perform in the end-of-season recital.

This approach allows dancers to explore competition at a pace that feels appropriate while still feeling supported.

Families who are interested in performance without a competitive commitment may also want to explore the recreational program, which offers flexibility and optional performance opportunities.

Commitment and Ongoing Support

Forever Dance is committed to creating a positive, competitive environment where dancers work hard, support one another, and take pride in their progress.

Joining the competitive dance team requires a commitment to regular training, rehearsals, and competition. Students participating in the competition program are required to attend all extra rehearsals and lessons and to maintain full attendance in their regular classes.

Clear communication is provided throughout the season to ensure families understand schedules, expectations, and performance requirements.

Continuing to Grow Through Training and Performance

The Competitive Program is well-suited for dancers who enjoy performing, are motivated to improve their skills, and are ready to work as part of a team. Through focused training and performance opportunities, dancers gain experience that supports long-term growth and confidence.

Families are encouraged to speak with instructors to determine whether the competitive program is the right fit based on a dancer’s experience, age, and goals.
