Beginners & Tiny Tots Dance Classes
A Gentle and Joyful Introduction to Dance
Our Beginners (ages 5–6) and Tiny Tots (ages 3–4) classes are designed to introduce young dancers and newcomers to dance in a way that feels welcoming, positive, and fun. These classes focus on helping children feel comfortable in the studio while learning how to move with music in a structured but supportive environment.
Through simple ballet, jazz, and tap-inspired activities, dancers explore basic movement, rhythm, and coordination. Classes encourage listening, creativity, and participation while helping dancers become familiar with classroom routines and group learning.
At Forever Dance, Tiny Tots classes (ages 3–4) and Beginner classes (ages 5–6) support early development while gently laying the groundwork for future dance training.
What Your Dancer Will Learn in Class
Beginners and Tiny Tots dance classes introduce foundational movement skills in a way that feels encouraging and achievable for young dancers. Classes guide dancers through simple steps and exercises that help them understand how their bodies move to music.
Instruction focuses on participation, listening skills, and early coordination, while giving dancers the time they need to explore movement and build confidence in the classroom.
Through beginner dance classes, dancers develop:
Basic coordination and balance
Rhythm and musical awareness
Listening and focus skills
Comfort participating in a group setting
Confidence moving independently and with others
Class Ages and Focus
Tiny Tots classes are designed for dancers ages 3–4 and focus on comfort, imagination, and joyful movement. These classes help young dancers become familiar with the studio environment while encouraging creativity and exploration.
Beginner classes are designed for dancers ages 5–6 and introduce a bit more structure while continuing to emphasize fun, encouragement, and confidence-building. Dancers begin learning simple movement patterns and classroom expectations that prepare them for future training.
As dancers grow, many families choose to continue into our Beginner Ballet classes, where dancers build on familiar movement skills and routines while developing stronger technique and coordination.
Ballet Exams and Skill Progression
Ballet training at Forever Dance supports optional dance exams for dancers who are ready and interested. Exams offer clear learning benchmarks and help dancers work toward specific technical goals throughout the season.
Preparing for exams can help dancers:
Build focus and self-discipline
Strengthen technique through structured learning
Gain confidence through individual feedback
Exams are completed one-on-one with a trained adjudicator.. Participation is guided by instructor recommendation, ensuring each dancer feels prepared and supported throughout the process.
Attire and Dress Code
Appropriate attire helps young dancers move comfortably and safely while allowing instructors to support early movement development.
Beginner and Tiny Tots dancers are expected to follow the studio dress code, which typically includes:
Comfortable dancewear that allows free movement
Ballet slippers or tap shoes, depending on the class
Hair neatly secured in a bun
For full details on required attire and footwear by class, please review our studio dress code.
